Bargain Baddie

I've been in a pretty good mood these past few days. Maybe it's the weather, or maybe it's because I'm back to blogging on a consistent basis. Whatever it is, I like it.

I had a job interview today at Club Monaco. If you read my previous post, then you already know about how I've only been hearing back about sales associate positions. But I've accepted that this is my truth (for now, anyway), and I'm gonna keep it moving.

Those of you that have worked retail know that how you dress for the interview depends on the aesthetic of the store. For my Madewell (which is where I work now) interview, I wore a denim-on-denim 'fit. But today, I had to dig a little bit deeper into my closet. Club Monaco is known for its neutral color palettes and sophisticated yet modern silhouettes. Since I currently don't own anything from there and couldn't purchase anything for today because I'm broke, I was forced to build an outfit out of things that I already owned.

I decided on a lavender dress with a white boyfriend blazer and black booties. The whole time I was getting dressed, I was hoping that the interviewer wouldn't call me out for not wearing their clothes. But to my pleasant surprise, when I walked into the store, I was complimented on my entire ensemble! In fact, the interviewer even asked me where I got my booties from because she said that they look exactly like the ones they use to dress their mannequins. Funny, right?

Even though nothing I had on came from Club Monaco, I took time out to do my research on the brand, and from there I was successfully able to create a look that was a (much cheaper) variation of something that could be found in the store.

I'm pretty sure my whole outfit was under $100. Jewelry and socks included! Haha. Don't shy away from the clearance and sales racks, guys. You'll find some gems there!

Now that I've conquered today, next up is finding something to wear for my interview on Thursday with Willys Detroit!
