In Case You Were Wondering

I've been working for the City of Detroit for about four months now, and I still get the question from friends and family about what exactly it is that I do.

As a digital & social media associate, I help to maintain and monitor content that goes onto the city's and the mayor's social media channels. I spend a lot of time going to different press events about city initiatives, as well as coming up with ideas to find new ways to interact with Detroiters via Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn.

I've been having so much fun since I started. No two days are the same. There's always something new going on in the city and I'm so glad I get to be in the mix and help to get useful information out to residents.

Aside from the more serious topics, there is some creative control involved with the job. The team has been making an effort to celebrate official and unofficial holidays on our social platforms. From planning social media campaigns for Pride Month to making fun videos for National Wine Day (see below), this job really pushes me to think quickly and outside of the box.

Anyway, that's enough of me talking about work, haha. Hope y'all are having a happy Friday!

Oh! But if you're not already, be sure to follow @CityofDetroit on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn!
